SYMPTOMS

When you run Microsoft Office Setup, you may receive the following message in one of the Setup dialog boxes:

   destination folder later during setup

This message is misleading: you may not be able to change the destination folder later in setup.

CAUSE

If you select Typical or Run From CD in the subsequent Setup dialog box, you cannot change the destination folder for Microsoft Office later during setup.

   MSOffice
   MSOffice\Clipart
   MSOffice\Excel
   MSOffice\Office
   MSOffice\Powerpnt
   MSOffice\Schedule
   MSOffice\Sounds
   MSOffice\Templates
   MSOffice\Winword

If you accept the default folder in this dialog box and select the Run From CD option in the subsequent dialog box, the setup program creates and uses the following default folders:

   MSOffice
   MSOffice\Office
   MSOffice\Templates
   MSOffice\Winword

NOTE: Some of the program directories will have additional folders (subdirectories) not listed above.
