SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Office Shortcut Bar with the ToolTips option enabled on a computer running Microsoft Windows NT 3.51, the following message may appear:
System process out of virtual memory. Your system is running low on virtual memory. Please close some applications. You can then start the system option in the control panel and choose the virtual memory button to create an additional paging file or increase the size of your current paging file.Then, you must either close several programs, or you must restart your computer.
CAUSEThis problem may occur when the following conditions are met:
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, disable the ToolTips option on the Office Shortcut Bar. To do this, use the following steps:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT. Office 7.0a and 7.0b automatically turn off Tooltips if the Setup program detects that Windows NT 3.51 is installed. You can turn on Tooltips in the Office Shortcut Bar if Service Pack 4.0 for Windows NT is installed.
MORE INFORMATIONThe Office Shortcut Bar loses system resources because it uses the system ToolTip control. This control loses resources when you use it on a computer running Windows NT 3.51. This behavior also applies to any program that uses the system ToolTips control. If you disable the ToolTips option and then re-enable it, the problem will reoccur.
