OFF97: Name and Organization Boxes Blank During Setup

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft Office 97 Setup program the first time on a particular computer, the Name and Organization boxes in the "Name and Organization Information" dialog box may be empty.

CAUSE

This will occur if both of the following are true:

  • You are installing Microsoft Office 97 on a computer running Windows NT version 3.51 or 4.0.

    -and-

  • You have not previously installed any version of Microsoft Office, or any other Microsoft program whose Setup program displays a Name and Organization Information dialog box, on this computer.

RESOLUTION

If this occurs, enter your appropriate Name and Organization information, and click OK. This problem should only occur once for any given computer.
