OFF97: Products That Qualify for the Office Upgrade

SUMMARY

Microsoft Office 97 is available in two versions: a retail version that you can install on any compatible computer, and an upgrade version that requires that a qualifying product be installed on your computer or that Disk 1 from the qualifying product be available when you run the Setup program.

This article lists the products that qualify you to use the upgrade version of Microsoft Office 97. The retail version does not require a qualifying product.

In addition to the preceding products, the following products qualify for Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 1 (SR-1):

NOTE: Some of the qualifying products listed above may not be recognized by the Microsoft Office 97 Setup program. Also, newer versions of the programs listed above, such as suites, word processors, and spreadsheet programs, are also qualifying products, even though they are not listed above.

If you are unable to install Microsoft Office 97, contact Microsoft Technical Support. When you speak to a support engineer, inform them that you have a qualifying product as listed in Microsoft Knowledge Base article Q158069, and the engineer will assist you.
