The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you click Microsoft on the Web on the Help menu and then click one of the Web Help topics, such as the Microsoft Office Home Page, the default Windows browser program does not start and no error message displays.
CAUSESome web browsers do not register themselves with the Microsoft Windows registry. A web browser must be registered with Windows because a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is used when you run the Microsoft on the Web help command.
RESOLUTIONIf the web browser that is installed does not register itself, contact the manufacturer of the web browser for information or an updated version, if available. Modification of the Microsoft Windows registry is not recommended or supported by Microsoft technical support.
STATUSThis is by design of the Web Help used within Microsoft Office 97.
