Error After Removing Files with Bookshelf Bundle Installer

SYMPTOMS

When you run the "Install Bookshelf and Tools" program on disc 2 of Microsoft Office for the Macintosh, version 4.2.1b on Compact Disc, and then click Remove, you may receive the following error message after the installer program removes files:

   The remove was unsuccessful. Some files/folders could not be
   Deleted.

Your only option is to click OK.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when both of the following conditions are true:

  • You run the "Install Bookshelf and Tools" program and click Remove.

    -and-

  • When you remove the files, any of the following components is not on the computer:

          Bookshelf 1996-97
          Business Tools and Templates
          Internet Explorer
          Internet Connection Wizard
          Internet Assistant for Microsoft Excel
          Microsoft Office Manager Updater
    

When you click Remove, the Installer program attempts to remove all of the programs and folders that are listed in this article. If any one of these items is not on the computer when you click Remove, you receive the error message.

MORE INFORMATION

You cannot prevent the error message from appearing if you do not have all of the items on your computer when you click Remove.
