The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you upgrade Microsoft Office 7.0 to Microsoft Office 97 and fail to remove Office 7.0, the existing shortcuts on the Start Menu are updated to point to the Office 97 programs.
CAUSEThe upgrade process does not create new shortcuts for Office 97 in addition to the existing shortcuts for Office 7.0. NOTE: This behavior is the same for the Professional and Standard editions of Microsoft Office.
RESOLUTIONIf you want to create shortcuts on the Start menu for both versions of Microsoft Office, use one of the following methods.
Method 1Move the Office 7.0 shortcuts before you upgrade to Office 97. To do this, use the following steps:
Method 2You can create shortcuts for Office 7.0 after you upgrade to Office 97. To do this, use the following steps:
