The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Office 97 for Windows
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows
  • Microsoft Graph 97 for Windows

SUMMARY

Unlike earlier versions of Microsoft Graph, Microsoft Graph 97 for Windows does not automatically register itself when you run it. Therefore, if the Graph 97 information in the Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT registry is missing or incorrect, you cannot correct the information by running Graph8.exe.

MORE INFORMATION

To force Graph 97 to add its information to the Windows 95 or Windows NT registry, run Graph8.exe with the /Regserver switch. To do this, use the following steps:

  1. Click the Start button, point to Programs, and then click the MS-DOS Prompt icon.

NOTE: If you are using Windows NT 4.0, this icon is called Command Prompt instead.

  1. Type the following, and then press ENTER:

          cd "program files\microsoft office\office"

  2. Type the following, and then press ENTER:

          graph8.exe /regserver

  3. Type the following, and then press ENTER:

          exit

NOTE: Microsoft Graph 97 is a required component for Microsoft Excel 97. This is why Graph8.exe is in the Office folder instead of in its own folder. Therefore, you cannot use Microsoft Office 97 Setup to remove and reinstall Graph 97.
