OFF97: Error Appears When Dragging Drawing Object from Binder

SYMPTOMS

When you drag a drawing object from a section in Microsoft Binder, the following error message appears:

   This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut
   down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

If you click Details, an error similar to the following appears:

   Excel caused an invalid page fault in Excel.exe at 0137:301d959c.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you do the following:

  • You add a Microsoft Excel Chart section to a Microsoft Binder.

    -and-

  • You draw an object on the chart.

    -and-

  • You drag the object from the chart to a Microsoft Excel worksheet.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
