OFF97: Confirm File Delete Dialog Box Not Displayed

SYMPTOMS

When you delete a file using the Open or Save As dialog boxes, the file is sent to the Recycle Bin without displaying the "Confirm File Delete" dialog box.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following statements are true:

  • You select a file in the Open or Save As dialog boxes, and then press DELETE to delete the file.

        -and-
    
  • You have installed Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 on your computer.

WORKAROUND

This problem does not occur when you right-click the file that you want to delete in the Open or Save As dialog boxes, and then click Delete on the shortcut menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
