MORE INFORMATION

If your Macintosh computer is not equipped with a CD-ROM drive, there are several methods that you can use to install Office 98 on your computer. These methods include the following:

  • If your computer is networked, share the Office 98 CD on one computer, and then connect to that computer to install Office.
  • If your computer is networked, the contents of the Office 98 CD to a network server, and then connect to the network server to install Office.
  • Attach an external CD-ROM drive to your computer, and then install Office directly from the Office 98 CD.
  • Copy the files necessary to install Office 98 to removable media, such as a Zip disk or a SyQuest cartridge. You can attach the hardware that is necessary to use the removable disk to your computer, and then drag the Microsoft Office 98 folder to your hard disk.

If you want to perform an Easy installation of Office 98, copy the Microsoft Office 98 folder that is located at the root of the Office 98 CD to the removable disk that you want to use. This folder requires approximately 87 megabytes of free disk space.

If you want to perform a Complete installation of Office 98, drag the Microsoft Office 98 folder that is located in the Office Custom Install folder on the Office 98 CD to the removable disk that you want to use. This folder requires approximately 102 megabytes of free disk space.

Using this method requires that you perform a drag-and-drop installation of Office.
