SUMMARY
There is no way to change the text color of an Equation Editor object
from within Equation Editor. If you insert an Equation into a PowerPoint
slide, the only way to change its color is to change it from within
PowerPoint.
WORKAROUNDS
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Recolor The Equation Editor Object
To change the color of the text but leave the object in Equation Editor
format.
PowerPoint 97 and 98:
- Select the Equation Editor object.
- On the Format menu, click Object.
- Click the Picture tab.
- Click the Recolor button.
- Click the check box to the left of the box that contains the original
color (black), and click a new color from the list to the right of it.
- Click OK.
PowerPoint 7.0 and 4.0:
- Select the Equation Editor object.
- On the Tools menu, click Recolor. The Recolor Picture dialog box
appears.
- Click the check box to the left of the box that contains the original
color (black), and click a new color in the list to the right of it.
- Click OK.
All the text in this object is formatted in the new color. Note that you
are not able to change white in the Equation Editor object to a different
color.
You will still be able to edit the Equation Editor object after you recolor
it. Note that the text will change to black when you edit it in Equation
Editor, but it will change back to the new color when you return to
PowerPoint.
Method 2: Convert the Equation to a PowerPoint Object
To change the color of the text by changing it to a PowerPoint object.
- Select the Equation Editor object and click Ungroup on the Draw menu.
NOTE: The Draw menu is on the Drawing Toolbar in PowerPoint 97 and 98.
- Select the individual object and change the color of the font.
Ungrouping the Equation Editor object will change it to a collection of
PowerPoint objects. After you ungroup an Equation Editor object, you can
no longer make changes to this object in Equation Editor.
Method 3: Convert the Equation Editor Object to a Picture
To change the color of the text by changing it to a picture:
- Select the Equation Editor object.
- On the Edit menu, click Cut.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special, select the Picture option, and
then click OK.
- Click Ungroup on the Draw menu.
NOTE: The Draw menu is on the Drawing Toolbar in PowerPoint 97 and 98.
- Select the text that you want to recolor.
- On the Format menu, click Font, and then reset the color as desired.
