The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft OLE Libraries for Windows and Win32s, version 2.01

SYMPTOMS

The OLE 2.01 creation functions [OleCreate(), OleCreateFromData(), and so forth] and IOleCache::Cache() fail if multiple values are specified for the TYMED field of the FORMATETC parameter. The functions fail even if the object server supports at least one of the TYMED values specified.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in version 2.01 of the OLE libraries. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

This is not a problem in 32-bit OLE.
