SYMPTOMSAn annotation mark is added to the beginning of each insertion in a reply or forwarded e-mail message. This mark usually consists of the author's name in brackets.
CAUSEThis is an editing option in Microsoft Outlook 97.
WORKAROUNDTo disable the annotation feature, follow these steps:
MORE INFORMATIONThe annotation is added only if the new text is entered below the top of the original message. For example, a line inserted into the middle of a reply might look like this:
This is old text from the original message. [John Doe] This is new text. This is old text from the original message.When using Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor, this option is not used. To control comments and revisions in WordMail use the Track Changes option (on the Tools menu) within the reply or forwarded e-mail message.
