OL97: No "Deliver New Mail Now" Button on Standard Toolbar

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 97

SYMPTOMS

Unlike Microsoft Exchange client, the Standard toolbar in Microsoft Outlook has no button to force delivery of new mail. Furthermore, you cannot customize the Microsoft Outlook 97 Standard toolbar.

WORKAROUND

Use one of the following methods to force immediate delivery of new mail messages to your active Inbox:

- On the Tools menu, click "Check for New Mail."

- Press the F5 key, to check for new mail.

If you have more than one information service within the current profile, you can choose the delivery service. To choose the delivery service, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click "Check for New Mail On" to open the "Check for New Mail On" dialog box.

  2. Under "Check for new mail on the following services," click to select the check box for the desired service.

  3. Click OK to force new mail delivery for your service.
