OL97: Minimized Message Cannot Be Closed with Right-click

SYMPTOMS

Using Outlook 97 and WordMail, you cannot close, maximize, or restore a minimized e-mail message by right-clicking it on the Windows Taskbar.

CAUSE

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

RESOLUTION

To close a minimized e-mail message when using WordMail, click the message to open it, then click either Close on the File menu, or click Close button on the message Title Bar to close the message.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Click Options on the Tools menu.

  2. On the E-mail tab, make sure there is a checkmark in "Use Microsoft
Word as the e-mail editor" and click OK.

  1. Open an e-mail message and click the Minimize button on the message Title Bar.

  2. Right-click the minimized message button on the Taskbar and click either Close, Maximize, or Restore.

Result: The message is neither closed, maximized, nor restored.
