OL97: Adding an Outlook Folder to the Office Shortcut Bar

SUMMARY

This article describes how to place shortcuts on your Office Shortcut Bar to access your Outlook 97 folders, such as Calendar, Contacts, Inbox, Tasks, or any other Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) folder.

You cannot place MAPI folders on the Office Shortcut Bar using the normal customization function or by using drag and drop. You must first drag the MAPI folder to the desktop, then drag it to the Office Shortcut Bar.

Place a MAPI Folder Shortcut on Office Shortcut Bar

  1. Size your Outlook window so that the desktop is visible.

  2. Click the desired folder in the Folder List and drag it to the desktop.

  3. Click the shortcut just created and drag it to the Office Shortcut Bar.

  4. Right-click the shortcut on the desktop and click Delete on the context menu.
