SUMMARY

This article describes how to enable a horizontal scroll bar for any of the Microsoft Outlook 97 table views.

MORE INFORMATION

In the table view of any Outlook folder, you can change the widths of the columns; however, the columns must fit on the screen. There is no horizontal scroll bar or an option to widen columns so that some of them expand to the right of the screen. To have the columns retain their width and expand to the right of the screen, you must enable a horizontal scroll bar. Follow these steps to enable the horizontal scroll bar:

  1. On the View menu, click Format View.

  2. Click "Automatic column sizing" to deselect it and click OK.

Now, if you size a column wider than will fit on the screen, you can scroll to the right. The "Automatic column sizing" option is unique to the folder you have open when you change the setting.
