SUMMARY

Corruption of the password list file (PWL) causes a number of Microsoft Outlook 97 problems. Rebuilding the PWL by deleting or renaming it often resolves these problems.

After installing the Microsoft Windows 95 Service Pack 1, password list files can become damaged even after you remove them and they are re-created automatically. To resolve this issue, run the Windows 95 Password List Update program (Mspwlupd2.exe) to repair the existing PWL file.

MORE INFORMATION

How to Rebuild Your PWL File

The PWL file is usually located in the Windows folder with the name <Username>.pwl, where <Username> is the name you use to log on. After you delete or rename the file, restart Windows. The file is re-created automatically when you log on to Windows.
