OL97: Internet Mail Account Password not Persistent

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Outlook 97 using the Internet Mail service, you are required to re-enter your Internet Mail account password, although you selected the option to remember it.

RESOLUTION

You must enter the password in the Internet Mail service's properties for it to be persistent, or you must install the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch (IMEP).

To Add the Password Property When Not Using IMEP

  1. On the Tools menu, click Services.

  2. Click the Internet Mail service and click Properties.

  3. On the General tab, Mailbox Information section, type your Internet Mail account password.

  4. Click OK and OK.

  5. Restart Outlook.

To Download the IMEP

  1. On the Help menu, point to "Microsoft on the Web" and click Free Stuff.

  2. Click Internet Mail Enhancement Patch.
