To set an interval for Outlook to check for new messages, use the following steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, select Options.

  2. Click the Internet E-mail tab. If you do not have an Internet E-mail tab, you may not have the IMEP installed on your computer.

  3. Click to select the "Check for new messages every X minute(s)" (where X is the interval to use.
4. Enter the number of minutes for Outlook to periodically check for new
   messages and click OK.
