SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Outlook 97, changes made to views of tasks in the Task folder do not affect views of tasks in the TaskPad of the Calendar folder. Furthermore, filters applied to views of tasks in the Task folder do not apply to tasks in the TaskPad.
CAUSEThis behavior is by design. Views of tasks in the Task folder are independent of views of tasks in the Calendar folder TaskPad. This allows for different views of task data depending on the available display area.
MORE INFORMATIONIn the Task folder, you can change existing views, add new selectable views, or define filters to limit the records displayed. In the TaskPad of the Calendar folder, you can change the attributes of an existing view but cannot add a new view and you can use only predefined filters to control record display.
View Control in the Task FolderTo change an existing view in the Task folder, click Format View on the View menu. This allows you to change certain visual aspects of the current view, such as fonts used and other formatting attributes. To more extensively modify an existing view or add a new view, click Define Views on the View menu. This allows you to make major changes to an existing view or add a whole new selectable view from one of the available types. To filter task records to control those displayed, click Filter on the View menu. This allows you to control records displayed based upon content attributes.
View Control in the Calendar TaskPadTo change the current view, point to TaskPad Settings on the View menu and click Format View. This allows you to change certain visual aspects of the current view, such as fonts used and other formatting attributes. To make more extensive modifications to the current view, right-click the TaskPad header and click View Summary on the shortcut menu. This allows you to make changes to the current view that are more significant. You can save these changes but you cannot define a new view. To filter task records to control those displayed in the TaskPad, click TaskPad View on the View menu. This allows you to pick one of seven pre- defined filters.
