SUMMARY
This article describes the steps to uninstall the files that the Internet
Mail Enhancement Patch (IMEP) installs, and return to the version of the
Internet mail service that shipped with Outlook 97.
MORE INFORMATION
If you installed IMEP by running the Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 1
Patch, the steps below do not apply. To remove IMEP with the Office Patch
installed you must run maintenance mode setup to remove Office. Then
install the original Office.
Follow these steps to uninstall the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch if you
installed IMEP as a separate add-in to Outlook:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the General tab and then click Add-In Manager.
- Click the Internet Mail add-in.
- Click Remove and then click OK and OK again.
- On the File menu, click Exit and Log Off.
- Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click
Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel, double-click the Mail and Fax icon.
- Click the Internet E-Mail service, and then click Remove.
- Click Yes when asked to confirm.
NOTE: If you have added the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch to any
Other profiles, you must remove it from the other profiles also.
- In the Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- Click "Microsoft Outlook Internet Mail Enhancement Patch", and then
click Add/Remove.
- Click Yes when asked to confirm.
- Click Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Office 97, (depending on which
Setup program you used to install Outlook) and then click
Add/Remove.

original Internet Mail service.
- Once the setup is complete, click OK to close Add/Remove
Programs.
- Double-click the Mail and Fax icon.
- Click Add.
