SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Internet Mail service in Microsoft Outlook 97 and connect to your e-mail server using the Remote Mail connection, if you attempt to cancel the operation of checking for new mail, the modem does not disconnect.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Internet Mail service that shipped with Microsoft Outlook 97 and the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch for Microsoft Outlook 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATIONTo connect to your e-mail server manually, point to Remote Mail on the Tools menu, and click Connect. As soon as the connection process starts, a Cancel button appears. After the modem finishes dialing and a connection is made, a Disconnect button appears. However, clicking either Cancel or Disconnect does not end the operation.
