The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you enter a telephone number in the Phone Number field of a Contact in Microsoft Outlook 97, you may see "+1" (without the quotation marks) automatically added before the area code of the phone number.
CAUSEThe +1 is the country code for the United States.
RESOLUTIONYou can set Outlook so that it automatically enters a +1 in the Phone Number field as you enter new local and long-distance telephone numbers. The following method affects all telephone numbers, including fax numbers. Use the following steps to disable the addition of the country code in new telephone numbers:
