OL97: Sunday Does Not Display as First Day in Weekly View

SYMPTOMS

Choosing to show Sunday as the first day of the week in Microsoft Outlook 97, has no affect on the Weekly Calendar display or on the Weekly Calendar printout.

CAUSE

The Weekly Calendar display always displays Saturday and Sunday together in a single day cell. Because Sunday is always below Saturday in that cell, it is not possible to display Sunday as the first day of the week.

Choosing Sunday as the first day of the week in Monthly views works as expected if you first turn off the option to Compress weekend days.

To turn off Compress weekend days, use the following steps:

1. On the View menu, click Format View.

2. In the Month section, click to clear the Compress weekend days check box.

Steps to Reproduce the Problem

1. Set Sunday as the First day of week.

   a. On the Folder List, click the Calendar folder.

   b. On the Tools menu, click Options.

   c. On the Calendar tab, under Calendar work week, select Sunday for

         the First day of week and then click OK.
   

2. Display the weekly view of the calendar.

   a. On the View menu, point to Current View and click Day/Week/Month.

   b. On the toolbar, click the Week (7) button.

   Notice that the weekly display starts with Monday rather than Sunday.

3. Print or Preview the weekly calendar.

   a. On the File menu, click Print.

   b. In the Print Style window, click Weekly Style.

   c. Click OK or Preview.

NOTE: If you choose any day except Sunday for the first day of the week, in the steps above, that day will show as the first day of the week as expected in both instances.
