OL97: Font Changing Options Not Available in Outlook

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to change the fonts for sending, replying, and forwarding messages in Microsoft Outlook 97, the options may not be available.

CAUSE

You are using Microsoft Word (WordMail) as your e-mail editor.

RESOLUTION

Change the default font in the template used by WordMail.

WordMail uses a Word template to control the message attributes. This template can be opened and modified as necessary.

Changing the WordMail Template Font

  1. On the Outlook Tools menu, click Options.

  2. Note the template name under, "Use Microsoft Word as the e-mail editor." The default template is Email.dot.

  3. Click OK to close the Options dialog box.

  4. On the Compose menu, click New Mail Message.

  5. Click to place the cursor in the body of the message.

  6. On the Format menu click Font.

  7. Change the font atributes as desired, then click Default and Yes.

  8. Close the open message without saving.

Result: The font atributes will be changed for all messages sent, replied to and forwarded, using this template.
