SYMPTOMSWhen you start Microsoft Outlook 97 you receive the following message:
The OUTLLIB.DLL file is linked to missing export MAPI32.DLL:36.Followed by:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.If you try to check your Windows Messaging Profile properties in Control Panel, when you double-click the Mail and Fax icon (or Mail icon if you do not have fax services installed), you receive the following error:
You need more memory or system resources. Close some windows and try again. CAUSEWhen you installed Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and Microsoft Outlook Express, you selected the option to make Outlook Express the default Simple MAPI client. NOTE: In some cases, a corrupt mapi32.dll file has caused this problem.
RESOLUTIONDo not use Outlook Express as your default Simple MAPI client. -or- Rename and reinstall your Mapi32.dll file.
