PC OS2: F1 Does Not Display Help When Menu Name Is Selected

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Mail for PC Networks, OS/2 workstation, versions 3.0, 3.0b, and 3.2

SYMPTOMS

If you select a Mail menu name and press F1, the insertion point changes to an hourglass and the words "Starting Help" are displayed in the status bar; however, Mail does not display the chosen Help topic.

RESOLUTION

If Help is running when you select a menu name and you press F1, Mail displays the Help topic for the menu.

To display the Help topic for a menu

  1. From the Help menu, choose Contents.

  2. On the Contents screen, choose Mail's Menu Commands.

  3. On the menu bar graphic in the Menu Commands Help topic, select the menu name for which you want Help.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in versions 3.0, 3.0b, and 3.2 of Microsoft Mail for PC Networks, OS/2 workstation. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
