PC Win: GP Fault Occurs When Copying or Pasting Text

SYMPTOMS

In versions 3.0, 3.0b, and 3.2 of Microsoft Mail for Windows, a general protection (GP) fault occurs when you copy or paste a text block larger than 32K.

CAUSE

The maximum message size allowed is 32K.

RESOLUTION

Divide the text into parts smaller than 32K, or send the text as an attachment.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in versions 3.0, 3.0b, and 3.2 of Microsoft Mail for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
