You cannot rename personal groups in Mail. The following is a simple workaround:

  1. Choose Personal Groups from the Mail menu.

  2. Select your personal group and choose Edit.

  3. Select all the names under Group Members and press CTRL+INSERT.

  4. Choose Cancel.

  5. Choose New and enter the new group name.

  6. Click the Group Members list and then press SHIFT+INSERT.

  7. Choose OK.

You can now delete the old group.
