PC NTMMTA: Err Msg: 0002: System Could Not Find Specified File

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start the Mail Multitasking MTA (NT MMTA) as a service, the following error message may appear in the Control Panel Services screen:

   Error 0002: the system could not find the specified file.

CAUSE

The Control Panel Services could not start the service due to difficulty in executing the XTSRV32.EXE file; either the file is missing, locked, or corrupt.

RESOLUTION

Ensure the XTSRV32.EXE file is located in the WINNT35 subdirectory. If the file is missing or corrupt, reinstall the NT MMTA to expand the file in the proper subdirectory. If the file is locked, remove the lock.
