Article ID: Q78704
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Mail for PC Networks, MS-DOS workstation, versions 3.0, 3.0a, 3.0b, and 3.2

SYMPTOMS

In version 2.1, 3.0, 3.0a, 3.0b, or 3.2 of Microsoft Mail for PC Networks the user who creates a group folder can always view, save, and delete mail items in a group mail folder, even after the user has been deleted from the postoffice group with access privileges to the folder.

CAUSE

This is allowed by the way Microsoft Mail associates the owner of a folder with a group.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in versions 2.1, 3.0, 3.0a, 3.0b, and 3.2 of Mail for PC Networks. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
