PC Win: Err Msg: This Name or Comment Is Too Long

SYMPTOMS

When creating or modifying a shared folder in version 3.0, 3.0b, or 3.2 of Microsoft Mail for Windows, you may receive this error message if the name or comment exceeds the maximum length:

   This name or comment is too long. Type a shorter name or comment.

RESOLUTION

Shorten names for shared folders within their maximum allowed length of 23 characters, comments within their a maximum length of 24 characters.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in versions 3.0, 3.0b, and 3.2 of Microsoft Mail for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
