SUMMARYThe Useful Life option in version 3.0 of Microsoft Mail for PC Networks is the amount of time a mail message will be held at a postoffice before being sent back to the originator if delivery could not be completed. The default for this option in version 3.0 of Microsoft Mail for MS-DOS and version 3.0 of Microsoft Mail for Windows is 24 hours. The user can configure this option in the MS-DOS client of Microsoft Mail. Changing the default in the MS-DOS client has no impact on the Windows client. The user cannot change the 24-hour default in Mail for Windows.
MORE INFORMATIONIn version 2.1 of Mail for PC Networks, all clients had the ability to change the Useful Life setting. However, in version 3.0, the Windows client cannot set per message transport specific options.
