SYMPTOMSWhen you run Setup from a network server, you may receive an illegal operation error while Setup is copying files to your computer. If you click Details, a message similar to the following appears:
SETUP caused an invalid page fault in module KRNL386.EXE at 0002:00007bce. CAUSEThis behavior occurs when you are running Setup from a network drive if you lose access to the network server. For example, this problem may occur if the network goes down or if your network cable becomes disconnected while you are running Setup. If you lose your connection to the network server during Setup, you may receive an error message indicating that one of the files could not be copied to your computer. If you continue to click Retry, and if your network connection is restored, you may receive the illegal operation error described above.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, determine what caused you to be disconnected from the network server, and make sure that you restore the connection before you run Setup again from the server.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
