SYMPTOMS

You can run the Install Shield setup for the Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) Mail Server (and the MCIS News Server) simultaneously in multiple instances. MCIS Mail Server Setup does not check for another running instance of itself on startup, but it should not be able to run more than one instance.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in MCIS version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
