SMTP: IMS Double Quotation Marks Not Parsed CorrectlyLast reviewed: February 3, 1998Article ID: Q175848 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you send mail to "user@investor"@MSN.com, a non-delivery report (NDR) is returned even though it is a valid mailbox. The double quotation marks are not being parsed correctly by IMS.
CAUSEThe server did not properly handle addresses of the form
"user@investor.com"@msn.com <mailto:>which is a legal address. When the addresses is received, it is parsed properly; however, upon pulling it back from the Routing Table, the parser was not used because the address was considered "clean" (that is, all comments had been removed, and so on). These clean addresses locate the domain by searching for the first @ sign and do not heed the quotation marks.
