Replicated Files May Be Modified If CRS Fastmode Is UsedLast reviewed: February 27, 1998Article ID: Q181813 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf you use Fastmode (Turn Off Framing for Local Replication option), the replicated files may differ from the source. The files can be different sizes or the same size with different content. The use of a 100-MB Ethernet network makes this problem occur more frequently.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, configure the Content Replication System (CRS) not to use Fastmode. You can do this from the command line with the following commands: CRS editproj <ProjectName> Flags=0 CRS Stop CRS StartFlags can be set either in the project or when the project is run. Setting Flags=0 turns off all existing flags. If you want to set flags, do this either with the CRS Web Administration program or through the command line.
RESOLUTIONIf this behavior is a serious problem, then apply the fix described below.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System, version 1.0 Service Pack 1, and Microsoft Site Server version 2.0. A supported fix is now available, but it has not been fully regression- tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.
