Standard Template Files Restrict Word Backward Compatibility

SYMPTOMS

When you use Program Group Control to perform a workstation installation of Microsoft Office version 4.2 and you use the standard template files that ship with Office version 4.2, you may not be able to save Microsoft Word version 6.0 files in Microsoft Word version 2.0 format. The same problem also occurs with any batch workstation installations that uses the standard template files of Office.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
