Service Pack 1 is available as single self-extracting archive files for Intel (x86), MIPS, and ALPHA-based computers.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING

You can download any of these self-extracting files from the following services:

  • Microsoft's World Wide Web Site on the Internet

          On the www.microsoft.com home page, click the Support icon.
          From the Support Wizard, click the Download a Driver, Patch, or
          Sample File icon.
          Choose Systems Management Server and click List Files.
          Click the appropriate platform-based Service Pack 1 for Systems
          Management Server 1.1.
    
  • Internet (anonymous FTP)

          ftp ftp.microsoft.com
          Change to the Softlib/Mslfiles folder.
          Get <FILENAME>.EXE
          -or-
         /bussys/winnt/sms-public/fixes/sms11/sp1
    
  • The Microsoft Network

          On the Edit menu, click Go To, and then click Other Location.
          Type "mssupport" (without the quotation marks).
          Double-click the MS Software Library icon.
          Find the appropriate product area.

INSTALLING SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT SERVER 1.1 SERVICE PACK 1

Copy the self-extracting file to a directory on your hard drive and type the name of the self-extracting file with a "-d" switch after it. For example, to decompress the file, SMS11S1I.EXE, enter the following command:

   SMS11S1I.EXE -d

After the service pack has been decompressed, run the SETUP.BAT program to install the updated files.

NOTE: If the following Setup error message appears:

   Since you are running Setup from your local program group, you cannot
   install a Site Server or Administrator UI, upgrade the site of add new
   components. Run Setup from the SMS CD-ROM to perform these operations.

then decompress the Service Pack on a hard disk where SMS is not installed and run SETUP.BAT.
