Incomplete Requirements for Sender Installation

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Systems Management Server versions 1.1 and 1.2

SYMPTOMS

The Systems Management Server "Administrators Guide" documentation for setting up a computer to install a sender is not complete. There is an additional requirement that is left out. The server must be enumerated by SMS as a logon server before you are able to install a sender on the computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server versions 1.1 and 1.2. We are researching this problem and will post new information in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
