SMS: BIOS Manufacturer Field Is Limited to 25 Characters

SYMPTOMS

For clients that show a PC BIOS group under their personal computer properties, the BIOS Manufacturer field is limited to 25 characters. However, many BIOS Manufacturer strings are longer than this, so the reported value may be truncated.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server version 1.2. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Systems Management Server version 1.2 U.S. Service Pack.
