SMS: Rservice for Alpha Does Not Process All Computers in List

SYMPTOMS

The Alpha version of Rservice.exe does not process every computer listed in the [Machine List] section of the initialization file.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do any one of the following:

  • Use the version of Rservice.exe that runs on the Intel platform.
  • Obtain the hotfix mentioned in the STATUS section of this article. The hotfix should have the following timestamp:

          3/2/98      8:00pm      591,632 Rservice.exe
    
    
  • Wait for the next Systems Management Server service pack.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server versions 1.1 and 1.2. A supported fix is now available for Systems Management Server 1.2, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
