The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSA Win32 CPIC application's call to Initialize_Conversation (CMINIT) may never complete on an SNA Server Windows NT client if the client is unable to communicate to the SNA Server.
CAUSEWhen the SnaBase returns the remote procedure call (RPC) error to the APPC/CPIC interface, SnaBase does not initialize the message type correctly, causing APPC/CPIC to fail to return an error to the CMINIT call.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SNA Server versions 3.0, 3.0 SP1, 3.0 SP2, and 4.0. A supported fix is now available for SNA Server versions 3.0 and 4.0, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services for more information.
