Multisap Link Services Only Allows 2 Connections per Local SAPLast reviewed: February 13, 1998Article ID: Q180938 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you are configuring an 802.2 Data Link Control (DLC) link service for MultiSap support, it will allow a maximum of two connections using the same Local SAP to be active simultaneously.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SNA Server versions 3.0 SP2 and 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.
MORE INFORMATIONWith the fix applied, modifications are made to SNADLC so that it uses the DLC_REALLOCATE command to dynamically allocate more link stations to the original allocation (at SAP open time) if needed. Also, some code is removed to allocate a SAP buffer pool for every opened SAP. By default, Windows NT DLC does not use SAP buffer pools at all. This saves a maximum of 64 KB in memory per SAP.
