The information in this article applies to:
NT: 437 (4.2) SYMPTOMSWhen tempdb becomes full, any temporary tables created will not get dropped when the transaction finishes.
CAUSESQL Server does not release the temporary tables correctly when tempdb is full.
WORKAROUNDRestart the SQL Server; this will clean up the temporary tables.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 4.2 for OS/2 and Microsoft SQL Server version 4.2. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
