BUG: Srv GP Faults if System Stored Procs in Single User Mode DB

SYMPTOMS

SQL Server version 4.2bK13 may general protection fault (GP fault) if a system stored procedure is run from a database set to single user mode. The problem also occurs on SQL Server version 4.2bK12.

4.2bK13 may GP fault with sp_addlogin, sp_rename, and sp_help. 4.2bK12 does not GP fault on sp_addlogin but may GP fault on other system stored procedures.

WORKAROUND

Do not set the database to single user mode if executing system stored procedures.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server versions 4.2bK12 and 4.2bK13 for OS/2. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
