SUMMARY

The MS-DOS-based Microsoft SQL Server TCP/IP sockets client Network Library (Net-Library) DBMSSOC.EXE is not supported on Microsoft Windows for Workgroups with the 32-bit protect-mode TCP/IP stack (TCP/IP-32).

MORE INFORMATION

The new Windows for Workgroups TCP/IP-32 does not support the real-mode sockets as implemented in earlier versions of TCP/IP stacks for Microsoft LAN Manager and Windows for Workgroups. All sockets support is provided through the Windows Sockets interface. As a result, DBMSSOC.EXE is not supported in this configuration.
