PRB: bcp_sendrow Will Not Time-out

Last reviewed: April 30, 1997
Article ID: Q122855

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SQL Server Programmer's Toolkit, version 4.2

SYMPTOMS

A client bulk copy program (BCP) application may hang on a call to bcp_sendrow.

CAUSE

The DB-Library bcp_sendrow function does not time-out after the period of time specified by dbsettime has expired. If the client application does not receive a response from the server, it will wait indefinitely.

WORKAROUND

This situation is usually related to an underlying network connectivity problem. Address any reliability issues with the network in order to minimize the likelihood of the problem reoccurring.
